Waiting on Wednesday #16 The Rules & Elemental

Posted by Jenea in Uncategorized / 29 Comments

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine  that showcases our most anticipated upcoming releases.

There are two that I am patiently waiting on this week.

The Rules (Project Paper Doll #1) by Stacey Kade

Expected publication: April 23rd 2013 by Disney-Hyperion

1. Never trust anyone.

2. Remember they are always searching.

3. Don’t get involved.

4. Keep your head down.

5. Don’t fall in love.

Five simple rules. Ariane Tucker has followed them since the night she escaped from the genetics lab where she was created, the result of combining human and extraterrestrial DNA. Ariane’s survival—and that of her adoptive father—depends on her ability to blend in among the full-blooded humans, to hide in plain sight from those who seek to recover their lost (and expensive) “project.”

But when a cruel prank at school goes awry, it puts her in the path of Zane Bradshaw, the police chief’s son and someone who sees too much. Someone who really sees her. After years of trying to be invisible, Ariane finds the attention frightening—and utterly intoxicating. Suddenly, nothing is simple anymore, especially not the rules…

Elemental by Antony John

Expected publication: November 21st 2012 by Dial

A lost colony is reborn in this heart-pounding fantasy adventure set in the near future . . .

Sixteen-year-old Thomas has always been an outsider. The first child born without the power of an Element—earth, water, wind or fire—he has little to offer his tiny, remote Outer Banks colony. Or so the Guardians would have him believe.

In the wake of an unforeseen storm, desperate pirates kidnap the Guardians, intent on claiming the island as their own. Caught between the plague-ridden mainland and the advancing pirates, Thomas and his friends fight for survival in the battered remains of a mysterious abandoned settlement. But the secrets they unearth will turn Thomas’ world upside-down, and bring to light not only a treacherous past but also a future more dangerous than he can possibly imagine.

I love the cover on both of these. The Rules… Aliens, um yes please.. It sounds awesome… And Elemental, one lone child born without any powers in a world where everyone is. Sounds like it will be really good too.

What is your WoW pick this week?

Happy Reading…

Good thing is you haven’t changed this Wow picture cause I’d have thought I missed the blog. Elemental sounds really good and I’ll maybe read it!
PS. I like this new background it’s so autumnish! (I know that’s not a word, but you get my point!)

    Here is my WoW post

  2. Savindi @ The Streetlight Reader

Elemental sounds a lot like the cartoon Avatar: The Last Airbender- in terms of a person’s ability to “bend” an element. It sounds like a very interesting book. The Rules sounds really cool too! It reminds me of the movie “The Island”.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog!

I’m also super-excited for Rhe Rules! I love Stacey Kade’s Ghost and the Goth novels and I’m curious about her next project. It sounds really different.

Thanks for stopping by my post earlier :)

  4. Vyki @ On The Shelf

OOOO, alien and human DNA to make a person? Awesome sounding! I like how Elemental is sort of reveresed from the norm of a person with special abilities to a “normal” person born among a world full of abilities. Great picks!

  5. The Bumble Girl

This is the first time that I am hearing about The Rules – and wow, it sounds really unique and interesting! I will definitely have to try to read that one when it’s released!
Thanks for the rec, and enjoy :)

  6. Kait

These both sound great, especially Elemental. I am definitely adding it to my list! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for stopping by My WoW!

Oooh, Elemental sounds awesome! Fantasy is my first love, so I’m glad to see more badass-sounding YA fantasy books coming out recently. :) Great picks!
