Sum up your life in the last few weeks in 150 words or less. 5. If you could change one thing of your past would you? If so, what would it be and why? 6. If you could be any animal, what would you be and why? Suzanne is a freelance writer and author from South Africa. She currently lives in Finland and finds the cold, dark forests nothing if not inspiring. Suzanne is the author of the cyberpunk novel Dragon’s Teeth (Divertir), the YA science fiction novel Obscura Burning (Etopia) and has had several short stories published by Golden Visions Magazine, Space and Time and Niteblade. Niteblade nominated her short story Where dreams are grown for the Pushcart Prize. Her non-fiction articles on travel, music and other topics can be found scattered throughout the Internet. Although she has a Master’s degree in music, Suzanne prefers conjuring strange worlds and creating quirky characters. 1. What do you want to do with your life?
I want to get out of this s**thole town away from all these cabróns and do something extraordinary with my life. I always wanted to be a lawyer but there’s no way my dad can afford to send me to law school so I guess I’m off to community college. Maybe I’ll get into paralegal one day.
Spiders? No, seriously. Maybe I’m most afraid of not living life to the fullest, of hurting the people I love, of being hurt… Life can be really harsh, you know? Growing up is terrifying.
Sort of, a crush maybe, except he doesn’t really see it. He’s too busy figuring out what’s going on in his life. And I’m not really his type being a girl and all. Nothing I can do to change that, believe I’ve tried. He’s just not into me.
Amazing because I met Kyle who has like a superpower switching between realities but it’s also been crazy weird and terrifying for exactly the same reasons. It’s also made me think about a lot of things, about my life and brother and all the things I have and haven’t done.
That day at Briar’s with Benny. My brother was a real pendejo but he didn’t deserve that. Maybe he did. Just wish it hadn’t been me, just wish I didn’t have all this guilt to carry around.
