Oxford Whispers (The Oxford Trilogy #1) by Marion Croslydon
Published October 8th 2012 by Carlux Publishing
Madison LeBon is dead set against the dead. Her fresh start at Oxford University is a brand new beginning. She finally has a chance to turn the page on her psychic powers and cumbersome voodoo heritage. Snakes, dolls, ghosts, and spirits: Farewell… Not quite. When the tragic lovers in a painting—the subject of her first history class—begin to haunt her, she must accept her gift before life imitates art. The lovers warn her against their own nemesis, a Puritan from the English Civil War. Unfortunately, said nemesis is now going all homicidal on Madison. College becomes more complicated when she falls hard for Rupert Vance, a troubled aristocrat and descendant of one of the characters in the painting. With the spirit of a murderer after her, Madison realizes that her own first love may also be doomed…
I have start by saying that I am not really a fan of historical fiction, but I am rethinking this for sure. I couldn’t stop reading it. It centers around a painting from the 16th century and the families of those that were painted all those centuries ago. Madison is a 22 year old young girl that has started attending Oxford to study history. She is a sweetheart, and very naive. With her family history she is afraid that she will end up like others on her family, with people thinking they are just crazy. The two possible love interests. Rupert Vance, who was a hottie, but has one heck of a reputation with the ladies, and the professor Jackson McCain who extremely intelligent and attractive too. The chemistry between Madison and Rupert was steamy and tantalizing. I guess you can tell who I rooted for…. The setting was described beautifully, and the world building was done with a finesse that captures your attention from the beginning. With the strange things that were starting to happening when Madison comes closer to the truth behind the history of the painting, it gave an excellent paranormal aspect to the story as well. The flashback to the 16th century and the present intertwining, made this an addictive read and wanting to more. Oxford Whispers is a romantic mystery with delightful characters and a completely engaging plot. I am anxiously waiting for the Oxford Shadow in a few months. This is a fabulous start to a new series, and one that I would definitely recommend. In addition to being an author, I work as an entrepreneur, wife and mother-of-one but spend a good deal of time with books, DVDs and listening to my mp3 player; all for the sake of inspiration, of course. My debut series, The Oxford Trilogy, has been a blast to write because I can indulge in my favorite types of music: Country and English rock. My main goal as a writer is to make readers dream bigger and cause their hearts to beat a little faster. Since my writing is all about sharing dreams and stories, I love connecting with fellow readers and authors.

I’m actually a fan of Historical Fiction, and this sounds so intriguing! Thanks for the giveaway.
This was one that surprised me with the history in it.
Oh! This sounds good! It definitely sounds like something I’d enjoy. Great review and thanks for the giveaway.
I love the blend of paranormal elements, especially the voodoo. This almost sounds like an NA version of River Road (had pirate Jean Lafitte, voodoo, witches), which I loved. Great review, Jenea!
Jenea, it seems like you had an enjoyable time reading this and I’m glad to learn that you liked the historical aspect of the story. This surely sounds like a solid start to a great series. Thanks for sharing
